Starry Hills

Hi again,

Today I would like to show you a picture I drew with oil pastels on an A3 piece of paper. It’s sort of like Starry Night with some adjustments.

I did it during an art lesson on Wednesday and decided that it would look quite nice in my blog.

It took about an hour to get it done but the result was,in my opinion,

pretty amazing.

Hope you like it!

More Origami

Alright,

Today I’ve got another post of some origami designs which I enjoy doing. The first and easiest to make is the Rose. Pretty much you just keep folding down then you cup your hands and twist the paper gently in your fingers, quite simple.File 22-03-2016, 1 00 01 PM

Next I’ve got the tulip. The tulip is pretty much a water balloon with four pieces twirled down the sides, so if you know how to make a water balloon the tulip should be easy, sort of.File 22-03-2016, 12 58 12 PM

Those are my two latest creations with origami. Hope you like them.

See ya later!

Origami Design

Hi again,

Today I would like to show you some examples of the origami that I’ve been doing.

First off, I’ve got a classic crane which I made a while ago. File 20-04-2016, 9 33 56 AM

This design here is a daffodil, I think. It was very hard at first but now I’ve worked it out but the result is worth the time.  File 20-04-2016, 9 33 27 AM

Origami History

Hi!

Today I want to talk about the history of origami. The word origami means ori, fold and kami, paper.Origami used to be used in ceremonies only because paper was very expensive back then. The most popular paper model is the crane.

Origami has become quite a tradition in the Japanese culture for the past thousand years.

As far as i know, Origami didn’t come for a certain purpose apart from, as i said before, used in ceremonies for the Buddhist Monks in the 6th century.

Well that’s all for now.

Kumihimo Loops

Today I think i’ll tell you how I do the loops at the end of the braids.

Have you ever tried doing a plait with four groups? Don’t. It’s way to hard, but that is how you first start the loop! After that you just have to make a couple of tweaks to the end of the thread then, VOILA! You’ve got your loop.

At first I tried to tie the loops with a normal knot but it always came undone. Finally I worked out how to the correct version of it and it never came loose. Very Handy!

Here’s a picture of the loop. File 13-04-2016, 10 00 49 AM

You’ll notice that it looks as if it blends right in. That’s apart of the magic.

Kumihimo Braids

Kumihimo braids started in the Nara period in 645-784 AD. The word means gathering of threads. The kumihimo braids were sometimes used as clothing and at one point were used to fasten the swords of the samurai warriors to their waists. Also for binding on horse armor and harnesses. Braiding was an important part of the Japanese culture. Now in some of the more traditional Japanese schools some students are still taught how to do kumihimo braids.

I chose the colours for those braids because they seemed to really go well with each other and some of them were recommended in my book. I make these braids by using a special disk and some thread and following a pattern that i would like to do. Each pattern has a different outcome so a mistake could cost you the braid. Here is a photo of me doing a braid:File 12-04-2016, 12 06 17 PM
